About Me
Hello! I’m glad you’re here.
I'm Megan McGuinness, a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) based in Los Angeles.
I work with individuals and couples who are navigating life's most challenging and transformative moments.
Times when the old ways of being no longer serve, and something new is trying to emerge.
My approach is grounded in trauma-informed care and relational psychotherapy. But more than technique, I bring curiosity, compassion, and a deep respect for your unique story.
My style is collaborative, respectful, and attuned to your specific needs.
Who I Often Work With

Guiding Principles
I’ve experienced grief in many forms: Sudden loss. Slow, drawn-out endings. Childhood grief. Divorce. The kind of grief that changes your entire relationship to time, identity, and what you thought life would look like.
These experiences shape how I hold space. I know what it means to keep going while something tender is still healing.
I know how important it is to be able to talk about grief without having to explain or defend it.
I’ve always been drawn to people’s inner worlds — how we make sense of our experiences, the stories our minds create, and the ones we inherit from family, culture, and the systems we move through.
I believe therapy is a place to unpack those stories, examine the impact of power, privilege, and oppression, and make room for new ways of being. I value honesty, complexity, and the right to show up without needing to shrink or self-edit.
At the center of this work is a belief that you already hold wisdom. It’s just about creating the right conditions for it to rise.
Training & Background
I received my Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, Los Angeles. My early clinical training included intensive work at the Southern California Counseling Center (SCCC) where I trained in domestic violence groups, school-based program, and later co-supervised the trauma program.
I also worked for Burbank Family Services, gaining direct experience in the Burbank Public School system working with Middle and High School students. I completed my associate hours working under supervision in private practice.
Before this career, I spent over 15 years working in the entertainment world — a demanding environment where I learned the deep cost of disconnection. That realization ultimately led me back to pursuing a long-held dream of becoming a therapist.
